The guidelines or policies of the Eritrean Liberal Movement (Mahber-7)

The guidelines or policies of the Eritrean Liberal Movement (Mahber – 7), ማሕበር-7, are organized principles with the primary goal of saving the people of Eritrea from existential threats and empowering them to fight for their dignity, freedom, and independence. State Building

The primary reason we need to establish a functional state in Eritrea is that the country presently lacks one; it has become a failed state. The absence of genuine governmental institutions undermines stability and progress, as the only existing structures are those controlled by the oppressive fascist regime, the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ). This group has consistently stifled political dissent and violated basic human rights, leaving the population without a voice or representation. As a result, the urgent need for effective state-building efforts must become our foremost priority to create a government that truly serves and empowers the people of Eritrea, fosters national unity, and lays the foundation for a sustainable future.

National Army

Eritrea does not possess a genuine national army. The soldiers are conscripted and effectively held hostage by the PFDJ, a fascist regime. Their main functions are to intimidate the population and to serve as forced labor for various PFDJ projects. They lack a clear national purpose or goal. Mahber-7’s policies for the national army are as follows:

1. End forced conscription.

2. Focus on defense and sovereignty rather than internal repression.

3. Transition to a voluntary, professional military under a democratic system of governance.

The Curriculum

Eritrea faces significant challenges in establishing a coherent education system. While there are schools in the country, their primary function often revolves around training political cadres rather than providing a comprehensive education. In response to this situation, Mahber-7 aims to develop a more structured curriculum that emphasizes the cultivation of skilled professionals across various fields. This initiative is guided by a national framework that draws upon the principles of the indigenous school system, creating an educational environment that respects cultural heritage while equipping students with the practical skills needed for the workforce. By focusing on professional development, Mahber-7 aims to transform the current educational landscape and foster a generation capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s growth and progress.

Language

Eritrea will have one official language: Tigrinya. Arabic will not be recognized due to its lack of historical roots in Eritrea.

Religion

In Eritrea, all individuals are free to practice the religion of their choice, reflecting the country’s commitment to religious diversity. However, it is important to note that national holidays are designated exclusively for Christian observances. This policy highlights the dominant role that Christianity plays in the nation’s cultural and historical context, while also raising discussions about the representation of other faiths in public life.

Land

It is widely recognized that the PFDJ, a fascist organization, has engaged in the sale and exchange of land, often prioritizing its interests over those of the local population. This practice has raised significant concerns about land rights and the well-being of communities affected by these transactions. However, once the PFDJ is defeated, a new policy will be implemented: land will no longer be sold or traded but will instead be available for rent. This shift aims to ensure greater accessibility and stability for residents, allowing them to use the land without the threat of ownership changes undermining their livelihoods. Such a change is expected to foster a more equitable and sustainable approach to land management in the future.

Case of Tigray

Eritrea establishes its internal stability not merely by asserting its claim over ‘Badme,’ but rather by considering a broader integration of the entire Tigray region. Historically, Tigray has been a significant area with cultural and economic ties to Eritrea. If Eritrea were to successfully unite with Tigray, it could enhance its internal cohesion and strength, potentially making it the most stable nation in the Horn of Africa. This stability could lead to improved governance, economic development, and a reduction in regional tensions, ultimately fostering peace and security in a historically volatile area.

Priorities of the Eritrean Liberal Movement (Mahber-7)

Household

The family is the country’s backbone; when a family is destroyed, the government is also destroyed. The fascist PFDJ regime has brought our country to this point by destroying families. Mahber-7 will focus on rebuilding the family so that we can grow and restore our dignity

Members of the National Service

Our top priority is to rescue the indigenous Eritreans who are being held hostage by the PFDJ fascist regime under the pretext of National Service. These individuals are isolated from their families and the outside world, with their labor and time exploited by the PFDJ.

From Exile to Homeland

Our people in exile possess knowledge, resources, and experience. However, they have not yet been able to organize effectively to remove the PFDJ fascist regime, as the mothers of Italy and student organizations in Europe and the USA once did. Mahber-7 believes that true change comes from organization and will mobilize all available resources in the diaspora to bring about change and help in the return to our homeland
